What is ESSSO?

The Earth and Space Sciences Student Organization (ESSSO) is a group of undergraduate and graduate students within the Department of Earth and Space Sciences and IGPP at UCLA. ESSSO provides an opportunity for all students within the department to share their latest research results and build a sense of community.

2.) Fall Symposium--HAS BEEN MOVED TO FEB 2007

The symposium is designed to give graduate students the opportunity to present research in an oral format. The 15 minute presentations should include original research and may serve as practise runs for your AGU talks the following week. This is a chance for you to increase your visibility in the department. Come present your research, practise giving talks, find out what's happening in the department!

Tenatively: Wednesday, Feb. 21st, 2007

Where:

IGPP Seminar Room: 3853 Slichter Hall

Why:

Other than it's excellent practice, the best talks will be rewarded with significant cash prizes. Last year, first and second place received $100 and $50, respectively!

How:

Email us that you would like to present a talk. Abstracts (max 200 words) for the symposium abstract volume are due Tuesday Feb. 12th. Cutting-edge science will be supplemented by drinks, snacks, breakfast and lunch!
